Walk, Walk, Walk

Rutherglen Heritage Walk is a self guided walking tour exploring Rutherglen’s remarkable architecture, history and characters. Pick up a brochure and hire an audio head set from the visitor info centre to immerse yourself in the experience. With the Caravan Park in walking distance of the main street and Lake King to take strolls around.

Ride, Ride, Ride

Bring your own bike or hire one from the visitor info centre. Take an easy ride along the old train tracks through sheep and grapevines or if your up for more of a challenge ride to one of the surrounding towns. There are a variety of mapped rides ranging from 20kms to 80kms. Read the story boards along the way to uncover the tales of our historic wineries, explore the pioneer cemeteries with the Chinese Burning Towers and relive our gold mining past.

Row, Row, Row

Both the Murray River and Lake Moodemere are ideal spots for rowing. Rutherglens Rowing Regatta, the oldest in Australia, is held each January at Lake Moodemere.

Fishing, Fishing, Fishing

Pack your rod, great fishing to be had right inside the park. As we are situated on the bank of Lake King which s stocked yearly with Yellow Belly and Red Fin. Other great fishing spots include Lake Moodemere and the Murray River, within 7-9Kms of the park.

War History

Rutherglen’s Memorial Park  hosts one of the few Leopard Army Tanks on display. The Memorial park is located to the left of our park entrance. With its plaque’s, cannons and tank the park is a respectful gesture to those who fought for Australia.

Golf, Bowls and Bird Watching

The Rutherglen Golf Course is one of the best sandscrape courses in Victoria. Located to the rear of the caravan park. Bring your own clubs and have a hit with the locals on a Friday for the chook run which is a 9 hole mixed event that begins between 2:30 and 3:30pm. Green fee’s are $10 regardless of the number of hole’s played.

Rutherglen Bowls club is a short stroll along the bank of the lake. Over summer get involved in the bear-foot-bowling with the locals.

Or just sit back and watch the bird life that abounds Lake King.
